MSI unveiled the 10 inch MSI Wind U120 netbook officially at the CES 2009. Last month MSI unveiled the MSI Wind U123 that we already looked at in our series of netbook comparisons two weeks ago. What are the differences between the U120 and the U123? Which one should you get? We try to answer these questions below in our profile of the MSI U120.
Description
The MSI Wind U120 is characterized by a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 945GSE + ICH7-M chipset, Intel GMA950 graphic, 1GB RAM and 160 GB HDD. It has an 10" (1024 x 600) LCD, LED Back-lit display and a 6-cell battery that lasts for 4 and half hours on a charge. It also comes with a 8.02.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth V2.0EDR, 1.3MP webcam and 2 Speakers.
The measurements of the U120 are 10.23" x 7.08" x 0.38" ~ 1.29" and it weighs approximately 3 lbs.

Comparison
Let us compare the MSI Wind U120 with the new Wind U123 to see if the U120 is still an interesting choice.
The presence of Intel Atom N280 in the MSI Wind U123 means that the Wind U123 will have more horsepower than the MSI Wind U120. Also, the RAM of Wind U123 provides a maximum expandability to 2GB where as the Wind U120 has a 1GB RAM only.
The dimensions of 10.23” x 7.08” x 0.38” ~ 1.29” of the Wind U120 makes it thicker on some parts than the Wind U123, whose dimensions are 7.1 x 10.2 x 1.2 inches. The Wind U120 with a weight of 3 pounds is also heavier than the Wind U123, whose weight is 2.6 pounds.
The Wind U120 is however, significantly less expensive than the Wind U123 with their prices being $299 and $349.99 respectively.

Verdict
You can clearly see from the above comparison that, even though the MSI Wind U123 is more costly than the MSI Wind U120, it offers you better functionality and increased portability. The Wind U123 more than compensates for the $50 difference in price. It is also more stylish and elegant than the Wind U120. The U123 is also offered in a variety of colors, which include metallic black, white, red, and blue.
