It is still hard to guess what Apple will be naming the new iPhone. It is going to be the 3rd generation iPhone. Apple could have just kept calling it iPhone like it does on its other product lines. Still for the iPhone Apple started using different names with original iPhone and iPhone 3G.

TUAW breaks a rumor that apparently Apple is planning to call the new iPhone 2009 iPhone Video. The guys tie in the leaked iPhone placeholders at Carphone Warehouse that list iPhones with the V3 moniker. I would think V3 means version 3, but of course it could also mean Video 3.
I could only imagine Apple using iPhone Video as the name for the rumored entry-level 4GB iPhone. Video would just not capture the scope and versatility of the iPhone. I still have my hopes up for an iPhone Pro.
