MetroPCS just dropped one hell of a bomb on the mobile carrier market. If you're in an area covered by MetroPCS you're now eligible to get unlimited international calls to over 100 countries for just $5 a month.

I'd compare this to some other long-distance plan, but quite frankly no one else's plan compares. Five bucks a month for unlimited calls to (pretty much) anywhere in the world is a deal of singular excellence. To take advantage of this service you'll have to be on one of MetroPCS's service plans. That's not really much of a caveat, considering they don't require a contract and give you your first month of service free.

As it stands, all of MetroPCS's service plans include unlimited long-distance calling within the continental United States. This international deal just makes things even sweeter. As a rule, we don't believe companies when they say that their goal is to provide “industry-leading value to consumers”. But, from what we're seeing right now, that's exactly what MetroPCS offers. It may not be out of an altruistic desire to help folks out during a downturn, but it's certainly working out that way.
