Here's a cool little invention. The Split Stick is just a 4 GB USB drive that's separated into two 2 GB dividers. By flipping a switch you can select which drive you want to open or save files to. The idea behind it is to use the Split Stick as a divider between personal and work files, or between 'PG' and 'R' files, if you're into that sort of thing.

The Split Stick has an anodized aluminium body covered by a colorful plastic sheath. You can choose between orange, blue, pink, red, black, violet, grey, or green. The Split Stick can be further customized by choosing your own text or icons to differentiate between the two sides. After you order, your choices will be laser etched into the drive. The Split Stick costs $19.99 and is out now.

This particular product is brought to us by Quirky.com, a new manufacturer with a rather innovative approach to producing useful products. They allow any member of their community so submit an idea for $99. Once an idea is submitted, the members vote on it, and the community selects one product that week to put into development. Next, the users set to work naming, figuring out the packaging and designing the product's logo.

Once a product is ready, it becomes available for pre-order. When it hits a certain number of orders, the credit cards of those who ordered it are charged and the product goes into production. 30 cents of every dollar made goes right back to the community. This means that everyone, from the person who pitched the idea to the people who commented and shared their opinion, gets a share.
