The rumors about a new Apple Tablet computer have been intensifying dramatically over the last days. On Friday we reported that AppleInsider got information from a reliable source that Apple is indeed launching a 10 inch tablet device in early 2010.
Today the Financial Times tops this rumor saying that the Apple Tablet computer is already coming in time for this Christmas Shopping Season.
The 10 inch Apple Tablet is supposed to be launched not in conjunction with an eBook push, but for a new broad content offering for music.
According to the FT Apple partners with record labels under the project name Cocktail to develop a new interactive music offering that is supposed to get consumers back to buy complete CD offerings and not just pick and choose single songs.
Under Cocktail Apple is supposed to offer new services such as interactive booklets, background infos and more when you buy an entire CD package. The content is supposed to be optimized for the 10 inch Apple Tablet.
If all of this is true the new Apple Tablet is supposed to be an Entertainment Device not a general purpose netbook. I said before that a tablet computer is a niche product, but if Apple can actually offer an experience that is unique than the Apple Tablet could become a must have gadget.
Thinking about playing music and a Tablet PC that offers interactive media associated with the music I imagine that the Tablet would have a way to connect to a home stereo system wirelessly to listen to the music. You would loll on your sofa, listen to the music and explore the album content on your shiny Apple Tablet - I like this idea and if Apple can get the price down to around $500 there is yet another "Apple Must Have Product" born.
