The miniaturization of projectors is one of the coolest current tech trends. PhotoReview Australia managed to capture some information about four new Nikon Coolpix cameras. One of them, the Coolpix S1000pj, is the first digital camera with a built-in projector. NikonRumors.com has more information about the new cameras, and a photo gallery.

The first of these new cameras is the Coolpix S640, which comes with a 5x Zoom-Nikkor lens with 28mm wide angle coverage and autofocus with 12.2 megapixel resolution. This camera is based around speed, it brags a .7 second start-up time and a very short shutter-release time. The S640 has a 2.7” Clear Color Display with human face recognition and object tracking. It's expected retail price is $500.

The Coolpix S1000pj is definitely the most exciting camera here. It's got a projector that can project images up to 40 inches tall. This camera comes with a projector stand and a remote control. Other than the projector, the S1000pj is very similar to the S640. It should retail for $700.

The S570 is billed as a replacement to the S560. It has a 12 megapixel camera and is otherwise similar to the S640, albeit with half the ISO sensitivity. Its likely cost is $350.

Last is the Coolpix S70, which has a 3.5” OLED display with fingertip shooting control and a variety of new shooting features like Touch Shutter. It has a 12.1 megapixel camera, the same lens as the S640, and can handle sensitivity settings up to ISO 6400. It should cost $600.
