CNET's Rafe Needleman published a story with the headline: "Why consumers won't buy tablets".
I totally agree with him that a general purpose Tablet computer will only appeal to geeks as a netbook is providing more general productivity and versatility.
There are only two things that would make Tablets a market success: a price below $100 or a new experience.
Since the recent rumor of the Apple Cocktail project appeared I can image Apple pulling it off and deliver an entertainment experience that is best enjoyed with a 10 inch Tablet PC.
I can imagine lolling on my sofa with an Apple Tablet listening to music over my stereo and exploring associated interactive content. Of course the iTablet would need to play nice with my stereo (iTunes control). I don't want to sit there with a headset on.
An integrated universal remote would be nice too. And obviously the screen would be good enough to read eBooks without fatigue.
If the iTablet were to be just a big version of an iPod touch than it will only sell to some Apple fans who need it all.
More iTablet Coverage.
