Netbooks are delightful and all, but what would really be useful to people who work out of their laptop bags is a portable desktop machine. Lenovo has heard our cries loud and clear, and they've brought out the IdeaCentre line as a response. Gizmodo unveiled their latest all-in-one nettop today and I have to say, I'm in love.

The IdeaCentre C100 will be out later this month. It runs Windows Vista, and doesn't pack a touchscreen. If you're willing to wait another two months, though, a much better version is going to hit in October. This upgrade will run on Windows 7 and be fully touch-optimized. The Vista version is expected to cost around $400, while the Win7 upgrade will be somewhat more expensive.

In terms of specs, both machines should be roughly the same. The C100 is a 20” nettop with a 1.6 GHz atom processor, 1-2 GB of RAM, a DVD burner, and an 80-160 GB HD. Webcam and WiFi are optional. It's going to be a long wait until October.
