Sony Stops Making Plasma TVs

Sony is apparently getting out of the Plasma TV business and only focus on LCD Flat Panel TVs.
Sony wants to consolidate its business resources and concentrat on LCD TVs to enhance its price competitiveness in the global markets.
Sony's TV business is more then 900 billion yen annually. Sony remains the largest TV manufacturer but it is behind Sharp and others in the flat-panel TV market.
So is Plasma TV Technology dead? It could be that the price difference will get bigger between Plasma and LCD and the quality of LCD is continueing to improve. On the other hand Samsung demonstrated a huge 102 inch Plasma TV the other day showing that Plasma TVs are leading in size.

Sony denies above News Paper report and says it will continue to make Plasma TVs. See this BBC story. (via Engadget).
