What's that up in the sky?! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's...another MSI CULV notebook! The X600 is MSI's latest addition to their CULV line, and it looks to be aimed squarely at the high end of the market. This svelte notebook weighs 5.5 lbs, and is .98” thick at its widest point. MSI ships it with an external DVD drive, since the notebook itself is too thin to accommodate one.
The X600 packs a 1.4 GHz SU3500 CPU, an ATI HD 4330 graphics card, and a 320 GB hard drive. It's got 4 GB of DDR 2 ram, and a six cell battery which should provide substantial battery life. The X600 also comes with a 1.4 megapixel webcam and features two USB ports. It comes in two colors, silver and black, and costs $899.
On the whole, the X600 sounds like a pricey, but very solid package. $900 is on the expensive side for a CULV, but this one really does have it all. The processor is a little anemic, but that's to be expected with this sort of machine. If you want a high-end notebook with long battery live and extreme portability, the X600 is probably a pretty solid buy. If you're just looking for a word-processing/Internet machine, take a look at HP's CULV line, or a netbook.
