The highly anticipated (at least by little girls) Dora Links Doll is available for pre-order for $59.99 (Update: New Low Price: $50.46) and will ship on September 29th from Amazon.com. This is going to be yet another hot Christmas gift for 2009 that is already shipping early.

Mattel and Nickelodeon/Viacom announced that Dora the Explorer is growing up in February. The new Dora doll is called Dora Links doll and connects to a PC via USB.

With the new doll a new online service called Dora Links (site) gets launched. The site is online now, but its features are not enabled yet. It all starts September 29th.
The Dora's Explorer Girl service is accessed with the Dora Links fashion doll.
The doll connects to a PC and kids can change the look of the doll online. Apparently the Dora Links fashion doll changes as well in the real world.
Mattel (Fisher-Price) started the TV commercials for Dora Links and the doll looks pretty much like Dora in the cartoons. The jewelry the doll is wearing can change color (LEDs) to match what kids pick as accessories in the online service - kind of neat.
