Sammy is about to put out two more CULV notebooks. Both are due to hit Europe sometime in mid-October, and hopefully the US shortly thereafter. These new laptops (thanks Engadget) look like pretty solid little machines. The X420 has a 1.3 GHz Intel Pentium dual-core SU2700, Intel GMA X4500M graphics card, 3GB of RAM, and a 250 GB Hard drive.
The X520 will pack the same low-power processor, 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, a 320 GB HD, and a 6-cell battery. Neither of these machines have optical drives (further proof of their increasing obsolescence) and both are set to cost around $1000. All in all, these look like solid high-end CULV notebooks. The 420 packs a 14" screen while the 520 has a 15.6" screen, so these two are definitely the largest CULVs we've seen yet.
Will large-screen, lightweight CULVs sell? Will Samsung ever bring this duo over to the United States? These questions and more will be answered later this fall.
