Windows Mobile has been losing share to Android lately, but they aren't going to go quietly into that good night. In fact, this Fall could see the rebirth of WinMo as a smartphone OS. 6.5 is launching in October, and with it will come a gaggle of high-end smartphones loaded with every bell-and-whistle Microsoft's updated OS has.
Thanks to Engadget, we now know that the Xperia X2 will be one of those phones. In addition to packing WinMo 6.5, this big black brick of badass contains an 8.1 megapixel camera, an included 4GB microSD card, and 13 pre-loaded "panels" for its Windows Mobile skin.
More details should be arriving soon. So far, the X2 sounds like it could be one of the niftiest smartphones out on the market. We'll know for sure when we get a better look at that hardware. Until then, WinMo junkies should be content with the knowledge that this October will bring them a fresh bounty of solid smartphones.
