Smaller, sleeker, and lighter are all the watchwords for this latest phase of netbook design. Sony has really taken them to heart in making their X-Series of Vaio netbooks. Gizmodo reports that this new Vaio weighs in at only 1.5 lbs, and is just a little over a half-inch thick. That's half the weight of a MacBook Air. I didn't really think you could make an 11.1" netbook that light.
Despite the ridiculously small size, Sony is promising lots of battery life. We know this netbook has an Atom processor in it, and I'm guessing it'll also end up packing a six cell battery for a solid eight or so hours of typing time. I'd be very surprised if they manage to cram much more in there. We don't have any details on the rest of the specs for this carbon-fiber PC, but don't expect them to be overwhelming.
No info on price or release date is out yet either. Since it's a Vaio, it's probably going to be costly. $700+ is most likely. My ears are peeled for more news about the X-Series, which should be hitting as we close in on October.
