AT&T announced it has taken the steps necessary so that Apple can enable VoIP applications on iPhone to run on AT&T’s wireless network.
Since the Vonage VOIP App launched on Monday, is seems AT&T already had this enabled. I assume it is also more a question of actively blocking than enabling.
AT&T says that previously, VoIP applications on iPhone were enabled for Wi-Fi connectivity.
In any case this statement makes AT&T look good and I hope new more powerful VOIP apps are coming to the iPhone soon. See my review of the Vonage iPhone app and what I still miss on features.
