Dell Android Mini 3i U.S. Bound?

Remember a few months back, when Dell released their Android 3i smartphone in China? I think many of us feared the ultra-thin smartphone would never reach beyond those borders. According to TechCrunch, we were wrong. They have heard rumors that Dell plans to bring the 3i to the U.S. within the "next few months" in order to compete with the new bevy of Android releases.
As it currently stands, the 3i is not ready for U.S. sale. TechCrunch's source states that he believes it will be upgraded in both form and function before it comes to our shores. The Chinese version has a 3 megapixel camera, ours will have a 5. The UI is designed to mimic the iPhone, and Dell has apparently decided to alter Android in such a way that some apps will not work with their phone.
If Dell is smart, they'll fix that problem before this mobile comes to market. It's hard to get excited about an Android phone that has what is, for all intents and purposes, a broken OS. Still, the phone looks great, and if they can upgrade the hardware and fix the design so it looks a little less "cheap and plasticky", I think Dell might really have something here.
