Rumors that the Netflix movie streaming service will also be coming to the Nintendo Wii have been around for a while. On Monday Netflix and Sony announced that Netflix instant streaming is coming to the Sony PS3 console. This was preceded by a comment from Netflix CEO Hastings saying that there is one more CE vendor launching Netflix in 2009 with material install base.
StreamingMedia, via Engadget reports to have actually seen screen shots of Netflix running on the Wii. StreamingMedia's sources also confirmed that the screens are real and that Netflix is supposed to come to the Wii very soon.
Based on Hastings statement above, I assume Netflix will not come to the Wii this year. StreamingMedia also peppers their report with the rumored Wii HD console that is supposed to arrive in early 2010.
Currently for $8.99 a month, Netflix members can instantly watch unlimited movies and TV episodes streamed to their TVs, computers and Netflix ready devices and still can receive unlimited DVDs delivered quickly to their homes.
