Review Ticker

Celeb gadget reviewers Walt Mossberg from the WSJ and David Pogue from the NY Times have also filed their take on the upcoming Verizon Droid from Motorola.
Droid reviews have already been out since last week, but of course it is interesting to see what Mossberg and Pogue have to say about the Droid.

Mr. Mossberg does not like the Droid keyboard and highlights that Android only has 12,000 apps and that the Droid only has three panels to display apps versus the iPhone which now has 11.
Overall he thinks that Android 2.0 is still not as fluid as the iPhone OS.

First Mr. Pogue wants us to use App Phone as new term for phones like the iPhone or the Droid. The Droid actually gets a lot of praise in his review but some negatives also show up. Overall he seems to be more upbeat about the Droid than Mossberg is.

Verizon Wireless will launch the Droid this Friday.

My take is that the Droid will only win over iPhone users that are unhappy with the AT&T service. The Droid is the phone to own for Android fans. Whether or not Android 2.0 is really mass market ready remains to be seen. The Droid has its weaknesses as the iPhone does, but the iPhone is already very established and the 100,000 App catalog is an awesome advantage. I agree with David Pogue, the iPhone is really an App Phone. My favorite iPhone app right now, respectively that of my 10 month old son: Peekaboo Barn.
