Cepia LLC, the manufacturer of Zhu Zhu Pets, issued a statement in response to a CNN report. Consumer Group Good Guide alleges that the Zhu Zhu Hamster Mr. Squiggles contains unsafe levels of antimony.
Of course such a report is bad timing for Cepia. The Zhu Zhu Pets mania is in full effect and the tiny hamsters are flying off shelves and getting sold at 6x their original pricing.

"We are disputing the findings of Good Guide and we are 100% confident that Mr. Squiggles, and all other Zhu Zhu Toys, are safe and compliant with all U.S. and European standards for consumer health and safety in toys", said Russ Hornsby, CEO of Cepia LLC.

Cepia is apparently contacting Good Guide to share their Zhu Zhu Pet testing data to try resolving this situation.

It is important to note in this context that the Zhu Zhu hamster is not for children under 3 yrs, because of choking hazards. Additionally Cepia warns in their FAQ that the motorized wheels of the Zhu Zhu Hamster have the potential for hair entanglement. To prevent entanglement, keep hair away from wheels.
