Sharp announces three new DVD HDD recorder in Japan.
Main merit of those new DVD and digital video recorder is that they start up within 1 second. Well, my Panasonic DMR-EH50EG-S (sold as DMR-EH50S in US) is doing that too.
The new Sharp DVD Recorder DV-TR14, DV-TR12 and DV-TR11 feature 400GB, 250GB and 160GB hard-drives respectively. Sharp claims to have the lowest stand-by power consumption with 0.4W in the industry. Sharp still sees need for VHS tape decks in it's DVD recorder. They even let users record onto VHS from the EPG.
Sharp will start shipping the new DVD recorders on December 1st. No pricing set yet.
