Germany gets the Sega/Hasbro iDog, but it is called e-Dog to help confuse people.

Just found out that Hasbro started to sell the iDog in Germany under the name e-Dog. I wonder why Apple did not had this genius idea to call the iPod e-Pod in Germany. Oh, I actually know why, because it is a stupid idea.
I am really against different product names or even worse product ids for consumer electronics around the globe. It is just not reasonable anymore in our global internet society.
On the other hand, Hasbro maybe wants to hide the fact that the e-Dog is quite expensive in Germany. The Hasbro e-Dog sells for 34,99 Euros (~$41) on Amazon.de. In the United States the i-Dog sells on Amazon.com for only $22.99. That is almost half of what the e-Dog costs in Germany. For Germans it is about as expensive to import the Japan only pink or blue iDog from Japan than to buy the standard white e-Dog. The little cute music robot dog has many names:
Japan - Sega Toys iDog
USA - Hasbro i-Dog
Germany - Hasbro e-Dog
UK - Hasbro i-Dog (hey, same as in the US, great, well done!)
