Sony BMG Music Entertainment announced a mail-in program through which consumers can exchange CDs containing XCP content protection software for a replacement version of the same CD without the XCP software, in addition to receiving MP3 files of that music CD.

There are actually 52 titles from Sony BMG that have the rootkit on them. Looking throught list of affected CDs, I do not quite get why Sony would even try to protect those. Bette Midler, Celine Dion or Cyndi Lauper are as far as I know not the artists that the generation of people who know how to copy CDs is listening to.
