Surprise! The rumor that a new Nintendo DS is coming turned out to be true at the end. In last weeks Technology Rumor Round-up I still guessed Nintendo would wait until E3 with the announcement, after they did not announce it on January 16th. See our report about the new Nintendo DS lite for more details. There is still no information when the Nintendo DS lite comes to the US. Maybe Nintendo will release the lite at E3 after all? Japanese gamers get it on March 2nd.
On to a new rumor: Microsoft to build a portable media player and game console to fight Apple, Sony and Nintendo. As we reported Creative is distant 2nd in the portable music player market. Apple is just untouchable right now. Microsoft is not happy about it. If Microsoft markets a device on their own, they will get problems with their current hardware partners for the portable Windows software platform. This is not an easy business decision. BusinessWeek spread this rumor.
Apple is said to roll out a 13 inch wide-screen iBook notebook this spring. The new iBook are supposed to feature a major redesign and come bundled with Front Row and the Apple Remote. Find more details on AppleInsider.
