Pod Slurping was a hot topic in 2005. SharpIdeas recently announced a Slurp audit tool to demonstrate how much an iPod equipped data thief is able to steal. Now CoSoSys announced USB Traffic Control - a network administration tool that gives corporations the control over what data is leaving or accessing their network through the USB Port.

USB Traffic Control is designed to control usage of all USB storage and also to keep track of what data users are taking from and to their work computers to any kind of portable USB device. The system allows for all kinds of audit reports to be generated. USB Traffic Control also supports so called "Trusted Devices" to exclude company approved portable storage devices from the scrutiny of the monitoring software. USB Traffic Control uses the .Net framework, and it can be deployed by the network administration in a Windows XP, active directory environment.
CoSoSys will demonstrate USB Traffic Control at the CeBIT next week.
More details on the CoSoSys site.

Just got word that there is also a company called VolumeShield that also recently released a similar solution to protect against data slurping via USB. They have a free personal edition for download.
