Samsung announced the BD-P1000 Blu-ray player at the CES 2006. Now it has started to appear on a couple of online stores for pre-order.
None of the stores (e.g.: Best Buy, Circuit City, Amazon, ...) has a shipping date for the Samsung BD-P1000. Samsung still states on the product page for their Blu-ray player June as shipping date. In my report from last week I question the launch of Blu-ray disc players this summer based on information from Pioneer and Panasonic. June is starting this Thursday. Let's see what happens.
The Samsung BD-P1000 (final design shown in photo) is selling at $999.00, which is the same price point Sony has for their BDP-S1 Blu-ray disc player.
The Samsung BD-P1000 features of course up-conversion of regular DVDs to 720p/1080i and 1080p. Other features include HDMI, Component Video, S-Video, Composite Video, Coaxial audio, Optical audio and a Multi-format flash card reader for photo slide-shows.
More details on the Samsung BD-P1000 product page.
