In Chris Morris's weekly gaming column at CNNMoney.com, he talks about the potential for a Wii launch that could be significantly earlier than that of the PS3. Up until now, everyone was expecting a mutual release for both in November.
Apparently, according to an analyst's note, manufacturing of retail Wii units is already underway. Not only does this mean that an early launch is likely, it also seems that a hardware shortage will be less of a possibility than it was for the poorly-planned Xbox 360 launch.
Now, most inudstry insiders are saying that an October launch is to be expected, with a September release also a possibility. The Gamecube is actually the only Nintendo system to be launched in November, and we all saw what happened with that, so maybe Nintendo is wisely going to try a different launch strategy with the Wii.
I just wish Nintendo would come forward and give us a release date, so all this speculation could end and the fanatics out there could start counting down the days.
