Westinghouse Digital Electronics announced yesterday their first product to use what they're calling MosaicView technology. The patent-pending technology allows digital picture frames to display more than one picture at one in a digital photo frame.
This has to be qualified a little bit, because there are digital frames out there that can bring up a thumbnail index. What Westinghouse is showcasing is a frame that is customizable to show, say, an entire screen of pictures you took on vacation, or even better display an entire slate of pictures of this month's I4U Gadget Model. For a better idea of this feature, see the GIF image at westinghouse.com.
The first frame to be utilizing this feature is the just-announced DPF-0701. It's a 7", USB-compatible, virtually-every-card-compatible frame with 16 MB of internal memory. In addition to its unique picture-displaying feature, it can also play videos (AVI, MPEG 1/4).
The price on this is a very reasonable $199. It does not yet have a firm release date.
