Something about this really strikes my fancy. Not only is it a great conversation piece but it also would look really cool in any room in the house. It's "Illume", a conceptual shelf that was designed by a student for his college final. There are three separate sensors on the shelf, and when something is placed on one, it illuminates with a super-bright LED light.
I can imagine this kind of thing being widely used not only from college dorms to upscale houses, but also in bars and night clubs. I hope that this student's design gets picked up by some company and that we start seeing these in stores soon.
