DVR Heading To the Mobile World

Mobile TV is a fairly new innovation for mobile phones that has a pretty narrow following. But what if your mobile phone TV could be more like what you watch at home? Texas Instruments has announced that they will be adding TiVo like technology to mobile phones sometime in 2007. This means programming your phone to record your favorite show and watching it anytime you want. TI has stated there could be a picture in picture function, which Samsung already features in new DMB phones.
There has been no official word on which handsets will carry this feature, but Samsung and Nokia are marketing phones for TV viewing. This new technology is expected to rapidly increase in popularity for mobile TV.
In-Stat predicts that the number of mobile TV subscribers will increase by 98 million within the next 3 years.
I think the numbers will be less impressive. The one feature that could make this a success would be an adapter or docking station for your TV.
