Fossil is really taking this Bluetooth watch thing seriously. They are launching two other watches under their Abacus brand of MobileWear. The two watches are functionally the same, the difference being the AU6001 pictured here uses a stainless band and the AU6002 uses a black PU band.
Both models use a small OLED screens to display caller ID information form your Bluetooth cellular phone. Vibrating alerts also notify you of incoming calls. Unlike some of Abacus’ other wearable electronics, these watches actually look good. Both models sport analog hands and vibrate to alert you of SMS/MMS messages in addition to normal calls. Two buttons allow you to mute the ring function of your phone and reject the call. The watches also vibrate if you get out of range of your phone. One of the big fears I had with the Abacus PDA watch was getting it wet from hand washing.
Both new Abacus models here are water resistant to 3 ATM. Power is from a rechargeable lithium rechargeable battery said to last 5-7 days between charges. Recharging can be done via USB or universal AC adapter. Pricing for both Abacus models is set at $200 and availability should be in October. Buy your own Fossil watch here.
