Maxtor is adding a new 1.5 TB capacity to its popular line of OneTouch III, Turbo Edition external hard drives. Like the other drives in the family, the RAID solution is user configurable between spanning data across both disks for full capacity and mirroring the data between the two disks for data safety and 750 GB capacity.
Since Maxtor doesn’t have its own 750 GB HDD, it is safe to assume the drives inside the slick Maxtor case are the Seagate 750 GB drives. While the drives ship formatted for Mac use, it is easy to reformat them for use with Windows. Backup software is included that automatically saves your important data to the external drive. Interfaces for the new 1.5 TB drive are FireWire 800, FireWire 400 and USB 2.0. Pricing for the 1.5 TB version is $799 and the drive should be available this month.
