eBay Halts Sony PS3 Auctions

We just reported last Thursday about the first listings of Sony PS3 auctions on eBay. I counted 25. Now they are gone.
eBay halted every single one of the PS3 console auctions and put down some very controversial rules for sellers to offer Sony PS3 consoles.
The special rules for Sony PS3 auctions include: to fax copy of driver license, copy of credit card statement and a copy of proof of Sony PS3 purchase or possession.
The fun thing is that Wii Auctions are still live.
I think it is good for eBay to control auctions and keep bidders save from bidding on fraudulent auctions. I actually wish eBay would do that for all auctions and not just for the Sony PS3. I am not quite sure if the rules they set are the right way to do this. They seem a bit over board.
More details on the eBay forum and on Arstechnica (via digg).
