General Motors showed at the Super Bowl 2007 a commercial featuring a car-building robot that makes a mistake and is then jumping off a bridge.
The whole commercial is pretty sad and the comments on iFilm are full of people not happy with the ad. It is clear that we want funny ads.
Business Week reports that GM agreed now to change actually the suicidal robot ad after a discussion with New York-based American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
It is not clear yet how GM plans to change it. Maybe they just do not show it anymore, but then they would let go on lots of attention for the ad. The robot is not really dying in the spot, he only dreams about his suicide. So how could you change this ad to make it more positive? How about playing happy music in the background?
