Meccano just informed us that the release date for their very cool wi-fi and camera enabled robot kit Spyke is scheduled for release in September for Europe and October for the US.
This could be the first darn robot that Europe is getting before the United States and Japan. Why? Because Spike is a French robot. The Spyke robot is going to be sold (why ever, I hate double branding) under the Erector brand in the United States.
We also got several photos from Meccano. See several hi-res photos of Spyke including the Scorpion and Lunar Lander configuration in our Photo Gallery.
Features of the Spyke robot include Wi-fi connection, remote control via Internet, video camera, VOIP phone and webcam functionality, music player and auto parking to recharge.
Pricing is supposed to be approximately 270 USD in the US and 250 € in Europe.
Spyke debuted at the CES 2007 and also was at the UK Toy Fair.
