Malaysian startup Gupp readies a Linux based smart phone with Wi-Fi and VOIP support dubbed Phreedom.
The Phreedom features a 2.5 inch QVGA color screen and a QWERTY keyboard similar to a Treo. Other features of the Linux phone include PXA270 CPU running at 312MHz, 320MB flash and SDRAM, 802.11b/g WiFi, GSM 850/1800/1900 MHz and 900/1800/1900 MHz.
The Linux version for the Phreedom comes from A La Mobile.
I suggest Gupp works a bit more on the design. The device looks a bit outdated and get rid of the external antenna thingy.
Measurements of the Phreedom are 4.4 x 2.6 x 0.75 inches (112 x 65 x 19mm).
The Phreedom phone will ship in Q2, 2007.
More details are available on the Gupp site. Via Linux Devices and Heise (German).
