If you have been able to get your hands on a Nintendo Wii console and spent any amount of time playing Wii Sports you know that playing games on the Wii is as much exercise as it is fun. To promote the Wii for family time and exercise Nintendo is giving 100 party packs to YMCA chapters nationally.
A Nintendo press release says that the YMCA intends to use the Wii consoles to bridge the gap between parents and kids through their Adventure Guides programs. Starting on Saturday April 14th some YMCA chapters will also begin integrating active Wii games into their Healthy Kids Day events.
"Consumers all over America are telling us the Wii helps them to stay active and fit and also gives them another reason to be together as a family," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "Wii has quickly become a part of America's fitness plan, from bowling leagues for active seniors to kids and parents who sweat through Wii Sports pentathlons together."
