Today we are also having a look at the PNY 8600 GTS. Unlike the other three cards we are testing here today the PNY Verto 8600 GTS is not overclocked. PNY uses the standard NVIDIA reference clocks for their 8600 GTS.
This makes the PNY card a bit cheaper than the other 8600 GTS cards on the market but it does give up performance to the other cards in the class. If you are on a tight budget and you want an 8600 GTS, the PNY card goes for about the same price as the overclocked 8600 GT cards.
Review excerpt: The 8600 GTS shares many of the same features in common with its bigger brothers in the NVIDIA family, the 8800 GTS and 8800 GTX. Where the 8600 GTS moves away from the 8800 series is in the fact that NVIDIA used a new next generation PureVideo engine. This new PureVideo engine was designed to reduce CPU utilization during playback of H.264 movies. This hardware acceleration allows low end CPUs to play back next gen movie content from Blu-ray and HD DVD. Read the full PNY Verto 8600 GTS review here.
