The $100 Laptop is going to cost $175, but the hardware will be able to run Microsoft Windows.
Nicholas Negroponte, the former director of the MIT Media Lab, who now runs the nonprofit One Laptop Per Child project revealed these updates this week.
Currently Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Pakistan, Thailand, Nigeria and Libya showed interest in being part of the first wave of OLPC XO computers.
The organization needs 3 million orders to start the production. Quanta Computer Inc. will build them. They only take $3 per computer. OLPC actually charges $176 to customers. $1 goes into the organization to pay the bills.
