Australian brewery Fosters and Australia's University of Queensland team up to use brewing waste to generate energy with a microbial fuel cell.
The fuel cell would contain bacteria, which consume water-soluble brewing waste such as sugar, starch and alcohol. The bacteria release chemical energy, which the cell converts into electricity.
The current planned beer fuel cell would generate 2kW.
