Microvision, a pioneer in wearable display technology announces a $3.2 million deal with the U.S. Navy to supply a lightweight, see-through, full-color augmented reality display prototype.
The new wearable display will combine Microvision's proprietary, newly designed ultra-thin optical assembly with its tiny laser projection engine, PicoP, to produce an advanced prototype.
Microvision says that the final product will have the form factor of protective eyewear or high-fashion sunglasses providing soldiers to access full-color tactical and strategic information in a secure and hands-free fashion.
I reported about Microvision the first time back in 2001. It was about the Microvision Nomad retinal scanning technology.
