Sony is announcing new VAIO models to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the VAIO notebook computer. Ten new VAIO models are going on sale starting May 26th. The type T VAIO will sport Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs, 12 hour battery life with the standard pack and 18 hours with the long life battery.
The type T can also be equipped with up to 32GB of flash memory to improve performance of the system. The entire machine is only 22.5 mm thick and four colors will be available including stock black, premium carbon, Bordeaux, and champagne gold.
The type R (desktop) is the highest performance of the new VAIO models using an Intel Core 2 Duo, up to 2 GB of RAM, Dolby home theater sound, Blu-ray drive, Windows Vista Ultimate, up to 3TB of HDD space and optional NVIDIA 8800 GTS graphics along with a 19” LCD.
Sony is also announcing Type F and type N systems as well with multiple options available in each of the four series. It’s not clear to me if these systems will be available here in the states from the Japanese press release this story is from. Pricing for the machines is set at about 240,000 yen for the type T, 350,000 yen for the type R master, 165,000 yen for the type F, and 150,000 yen for the type N. Via Sony press release.
