Google seeks Help of Stanford's Robot Car Stanley

The Mercury News reports that Google has licensed the sensing technology that enabled Stanley, the Touareg R5 robot car, which won the 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge.
The Stanford University developed technology is supposed to enable Google to map out photo-realistic 3-D versions of cities.
Microsoft's 3-D mapping application known as Virtual Earth already has photo realistic 3D sceneries.
Google might be officially announcing the licensing deal at the Where 2.0 conference end of May.
