Features & Specifications
The first thing you notice about the HP LP3065 30” LCD Display is that it is freaking huge. Huge I say! While the screen is large with a 29.7 inch viewable area it also has a 92% color gamut and up to a 1000:1 contrast ratio and up to 300 nits brightness. The native resolution is 2560 x 1600 and the display has a .25mm pixel pitch. Viewing angles are 178 degrees horizontally and vertically.

Connectivity options are all DVI on the HP LP3065 30” LCD Display. You could change the DVI to VGA but no HD component or other connections are offered on the display. Having three DVI ports on the display means you can use this one monitor for three different computers. On the left rear of the display is also a four port USB hub for connecting peripherals. Another nice feature is that the power supply is built into the display so there is no external power adapter to deal with, only the display power cord.

Testing & Use
To give the HP LP3065 30” LCD Display a work out I watched movies, did general computer work and played lots of PC games on it. Movie watching on the HP LP3065 30” LCD Display is great. The color reproduction is excellent with bright colors, deep blacks and realistic skin tones. Black levels are good and transitions from dark to light colors look good.

General Computer Work
For general computer work if you typically have lots of browsers and applications running at once a large display is fantastic. The 2560 x 1600 screen resolution allowed me to get eight appropriate sized windows on screen at once. Having three web browsers, Word, Photoshop, AIM, Live Messenger and remote desktop on screen at once save me lots of time normally lost to flipping back and forth between screens. Working with photos and video is nice as well as the colors on screen are the same as you get when you print your documents out.

Gaming
Hands down the best part of the HP LP3065 30” LCD Display for me is PC gaming. Playing something like Oblivion at 2560 x 1600 maxed out thanks to a pair of XFX 8800 GTX graphics cards in SLI mode is enough to make me consider absconding with HP's sweet display. There was no hint of ghosting during gaming. Look as I might I couldn’t find the gray-to-gray response time listed on HP’s site, but its fast enough to have no issues. No tearing or any other problems were seen during gaming.

Usually one of the places where displays lack is in the design of their stands. HP went all out on the HP LP3065 30” LCD Display making the stand height adjustable through a 5.1 inch range, giving swivel adjustment, and tilt adjustment as well. The only adjustment option lacking is portrait mode, though that would be hard to pull off with a display this large. The only real drawback to the HP LP3065 30” LCD Display is the price. At an MSRP of $1699 it certainly isn’t cheap.
