After spending lots of time with the larger 1/8 scale nitro powered cars and trucks opening a box and taking out a 1/36 scale truck is a change of pace. The Team Losi Micro-T is about the same size as the larger scale Hot Wheels cars that my son collects. While it is small don’t let that fool you into thinking that the Team Losi Micro-T is a fragile truck. This thing is built ruggedly and is hands down the fastest little RC truck I have ever seen. We have had lots of the little rechargeable RC vehicles in our home over the years. The types that recharge from their controllers like the Nemo RC fish I reviewed last year.

The Team Losi Micro-T doesn’t recharge from its controller, rather it uses what Team Losi calls a Micro Charge System which is a black box that holds 8 AA batteries to charge the Ni-MH battery pack built into the truck. Charging the battery pack in the truck takes about 20 minutes. Once charged you can get about 20-30 minutes of run time depending on how hard you push the truck.

Unlike the cheap RC cars of this size you see in discount stores Team Lost used a full fledged pistol style controller. The controller is every bit as nice as the system I see on some of the nitro trucks I have used. The controller is AM but has very good range, I can drive the truck all over my house without issue and outdoors I can go for right at 200 feet before the signal wanes.

Suspension wise the Team Losi Micro-T uses fully independent suspension with friction dampers. The transmission has a differential that uses an adjustable slipper clutch and three gears. Tires are rubber with foam inserts and come pre-mounted on the wheels. When Team Losi says the Micro-T is ready to run they mean it. Even the batteries are included. You don’t have to add anything to this truck to get running.

Driving & Performance
Once everything is powered up you are ready to go. The Team Losi Micro-T is quite responsive and way faster than you expect a small truck like this to be. It can move easily over carpet, hard floors, grass and dirt. The tiny engine gives enough power that the Micro-T throws a nice little roost when driving in dirt. While the Team Losi Micro-T is fast the responsive controls make it easy to operate and maneuver both in doors and out.

To see just how easy it was to operate my 5-year old son spent lots of time driving it. He understood right away how to operate the controls and was driving the car all over the house and the yard in less than 15 minutes. He had a blast with the truck. Parents, if you are looking for a RC car to give your child for a gift or for a special occasion you need to seriously consider the Team Losi Micro-T. The truck is small and lightweight, that means when it crashes into stuff indoors the likelihood of things getting broken is slim. Yet it has the power and speed to impress adults and kids alike and drive off-road with ease.

The radio uses the pistol style is of much higher quality than what you find for similar money in the toy store. You can also adjust the steering and throttle from the radio which makes adjustment easy to do, even on-the-fly while driving. Reverse is easy to engage via pushing the trigger forward, which is nice since the nitro trucks and cars I have reviewed don’t have reverse gears. Durability is another big thing with the Team Losi Micro-T. My son and I used this thing hard. It survived being stepped on repeatedly, jumping off our table to the ground which is about 5 feet and repeated off-road runs. The truck just kept going no matter what we did to it. During the weeks of testing and being played with by young children nothing broke or was damaged at all. The truck is as good now as it was when I took it out of the box. I wish charging was faster but overall there is really nothing to gripe about here other than to say perhaps the suspension could have a bit less rebound, the truck tends to bounce after jumps.
