The wireless connection is good for 30 feet from the console, which I verified in testing. Even those with big rooms should be able to play with the Logitech Cordless Precision Controller for PS3. Powered by a pair of AA batteries, Logitech claims the Cordless Precision Controller for PS3 is good for up to 300 hrs of gaming on one set of batteries. I much prefer AA batteries to rechargeable like the stock SIXAXIS controller, getting my son to remember to plug the stock PS3 controller in after playing is virtually impossible. To get this long battery life the Logitech Cordless Precision Controller for PS3 puts itself into sleep mode after 5 minutes of inactivity. If you happen to be playing a game with long cut scenes, this can be a bit of a hassle as you could get lag when the controller starts back up from sleep mode. Testing In the hand, the SIXAXIS and the Logitech Cordless Precision Controller for PS3 feel very similar with the Logitech controller feeling a bit larger overall, which I find more comfortable. The Logitech controller is also heavier than the SIXAXIS, but the weight is close. The biggest difference between the two controllers is that the Logitech controller does not have motion-sensing abilities. It may or may not be a deal breaker for you to not have motion sensing, I have several games that use motion control and I typically do not use it. Godfather is my one exception, it is quite fun to bang heads with a flick of the controller; if you want motion sensing, go SIXAXIS. If what you need is a second controller that is wireless and motion sensing isn’t important to you, the Logitech Cordless Precision Controller for PS3 is a fantastic alternative that carries an MSRP of $39.99. I used the Logitech Cordless Precision Controller for PS3 to play several games on the PS3 from Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End & Auto Assault 2 to Motorstorm. In all the games I played it performed flawlessly and did not make me have to think about where the buttons were located. All the controls were right where they needed to be. I never had problems with lag or connectivity, the Logitech Cordless Precision Controller for PS3 simply worked well every time I used it.
