Features & Specifications
The Foxconn 9600 GT OC has a core clock of 700MHz, a memory clock of 2000MHz, and 64 stream processors. The memory used is 512MB of GDDR3 with a 246bit interface. The card is PCI Express 2.0 certified and supports SLI, PureVideo and more.

Test Machine
My test machine has the following specifications:

  • OS- Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 32-bit
  • PSU- Top Power 1100W
  • RAM- 2GB Aeneon DDR3-16000
  • CPU- Intel QX9770
  • Display- 30-inch Dell

3DMark06
The first application I used for video card testing is 3DMark06. I run 3DMark06 at default settings in the application and default settings in the 3DMark06 control panel. The Foxconn 9600 GT OC scored as follows in 3DMark06:

  • Total 3DMarks- 11362
  • SM2.0- 4717
  • HDR/SM3.0- 4332
  • CPU- 4663
  • Return to Proxycon- 37.257
  • Firefly Forest- 41.126
  • Canyon Flight- 39.543
  • Deep Freeze- 49.090
  • CPU1- 1.532
  • CPU2- 2.271

To compare the ASUS 9800 GX2 I recently reviewed scored 16936 3DMarks, the XFX 9800 GTX scored 14298, and the XFX 9600 GT XXX Alpha Dog scored 11720.

Quake Wars
Quake Wars is one of the coolest games around right now and to test the Foxconn 9600 GT OC I ran the game at 2560 x 1600 with all settings on high and shaders on ultra. I used Fraps to record frame rate data on a single player Africa Refinery map. Fraps recorded the following frame rate data:

  • Min- 12 fps
  • Avg- 22.965 fps
  • Max- 44fps

Bioshock
The next game test was with Bioshock, which I ran at 1920 x 1200 with all settings on and set to high. I used Fraps to record frame rate data on the level where you have to unlock the medical facility. Fraps recorded the following frame rate data:

  • Min- 14 fps
  • Avg- 33.899 fps
  • Max- 62 fps

Crysis
The final game test up for the Foxconn 9600 GT OC was Crysis. I ran Crysis at 1920 x 1200 with 2x AA and all settings on medium. I used Fraps to record frame rate data from the initial beach insertion until the fight with the first enemy soldiers. Fraps recorded the following frame rate data:

  • Min- 16 fps
  • Avg- 31.44 fps
  • Max- 44 fps

Final Thoughts
The Foxconn 9600 GT OC performed well, but was on average 300 points lower on 3DMark06 than the other overclocked 9600 GT video cards I have tested. In the real world that performance difference equates to around 3 fps slower on average when playing video games. The difference is minimal in performance, but the Foxconn 9600 GT OC lacks a bundle whereas other cards include first rate video games as well.
