Features & Specifications Testing & Use The SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDHC 8GB did fantastically on the Sandra Removable storage benchmark. The SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDHC 8GB had a device index of 4124 ops/minute and an endurance factor of 43.60. That score completely blows away the OCZ microSD card I reviewed back in March that had a device index of only 27 ops/minute. The SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDHC 8GB also blitzed the competition in the removable storage benchmark’s 2Mb files test. The SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDHC 8GB had a read speed of 567 ops/minute (18.90 MB/s and 129.02x) its write performance was 332 ops/minute (11.07 Mb/sec and 75.55x). The OCZ microSD card has a write performance with 2MB files of 210 ops/minute and a read performance of 12 ops/min. The repeated sector rewrite speed for the drive was 537 KB/s, sequential rewrite was 317 Kb/s and the random sector write was 7Kb/s. Synthetic tests don’t give a good idea of the real performance of the SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDHC 8GB. I also moved a large amount of jpeg images totaling 1.69 GB to and from the SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDHC 8GB via the included USB card reader and times the process with a stop watch. To write the 1.69 GB file to the SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDHC 8GB took 2 minutes and 20 seconds. To read the same file from the SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDHC 8GB and write it back to the computer took 1 minute and 40 seconds. Deleting the same 1.69GB file took 20 seconds. I used the SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDHC 8GB in a Palm Centro smartphone without any issues. The amount of storage the little SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDHC 8GB offers is impressive and the bundling with a tiny card reader makes moving music to the phone a snap and much faster than with other microSD cards. The worst part about the SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDHC 8GB and the card reader are their tiny size that makes them easy to lose in a pocket or purse when traveling.
