Specifications and Features
The AX Pro headphones support Dolby Digital and Dolby Prologic sound in addition to full 5.1 digital surround sound. If you want to use the headphones with a source that lacks a digital output analog connections are included as well. The center speaker has a pair of 30mm drivers with one for each ear as do the front and rear speakers.

The subwoofer in each ear cup is 40mm. Tritton gives 12.5 feet of cable, which should be enough to let you sit across the room from your Pc or game console. Among the compatible source devices for the headphones are the Xbox, PS3, PC, Mac, and DVD players. An in-line audio controller allows for control of the volume and control of the different channels as well.

In Use
The first thing you notice about the AX Pro is the size of the unit. The headphones are very large and offer large ear cups that are padded well. The ear cups are padded with a soft velour material and a set of vinyl coated ear cups are included as well.

All of the cables you need to connect the AX Pro headset to your Pc via analog or digital options are included. The headset also has a removable mic for online gaming. The mic can be connected via analog 3.5mm inputs, the Xbox 360 controller port, and USB for use with different systems.

The mic works well and picks up your voice clearly with minimal room sounds picked. The surround sound effects are very good, but as with many surround headphones, there isn’t much separation between channels. You can adjust the delay to the rear speakers to help separate things more.

Bass is good with nice, deep explosions in video games and good bass for music and movies as well. The padded ear cups are comfortable enough and can be worn for an extended period very comfortably. The ear cups are deep enough so that your ears won't touch the speaker area causing pressure points that can be uncomfortable (assuming you don’t have ears like Ross Perot anyway).

This is the first headset capable of Dolby Digital 5.1 sound that I have tried and the surround sound effects are very nice. The biggest issue I have with the AX Pro headset is that is requires two AC adapters for power. One adapter powers the integrated amp and the other plugs into the in-line audio controller. That means that if the area around your desk or entertainment center is packed with cords like mine, plugging the AX Pro in may be an issue. The AC adapters are also large and block surrounding outlets on many power strips.
