Apple TV 3.0 Coming Soon

Topic:

Apple TV 3.0 Coming Soon Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

Since Apple TV 2.0 launched it hasn't gotten much attention. According to AppleInsider, however, that's all about to change. The iTunes Store Terms and Conditions list has been updated in order to prepare for the launch of Apple TV 3.0. As far as we know, 3.0 will just be a software update, primarily designed to allow viewing of iTunes LP and iTunes Extras content.

The iTunes LP format is basically a normal album with added tracks, photos, videos, and other extra content. LPs were designed for the purpose of making full album sales more attractive to consumers. iTunes Extras is the same service, only for movies. It delivers bonus content for films purchased through iTunes.

New Apple TV Ads Put Finger In Windows 7 Upgrade Wound

Topic:

New Apple TV Ads Put Finger In Windows 7 Upgrade Wound Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Apple published three new Get a Mac commercials in time for the Windows 7 launch. All three new ads target the potential upgrade pain Windows user could have going to Windows 7.
The new Get A Mac ads are actually not funny, but highlight the situation Windows XP users are in. Upgrading to Windows 7 means complete new installation, there is no in place upgrade path like in Vista.
Additionally Windows 7 is a big leap for XP users in terms of User interface. If you have tasted the Mac experience like I have, XP users get tempted to switch entirely to Apple instead of upgrading to Windows 7. Read more

160 GB Apple TV Now $229, 40 GB Discontinued

Topic:

160 GB Apple TV Now $229, 40 GB Discontinued Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

If you've ever wanted to be an Apple TV subscriber, now is a good time to start. Apple has just announced a major price cut for their 160 GB model, which will coincide with the removal of the 40 GB model from shelves. AppleInsider notes that Gene Munster, famed Apple analyst, believes that a substantial upgrade to the line is due shortly. The fact that Apple has consolidated their TV offerings certainly makes that seem likely.

It is doubtful that we'll see new hardware released in the immediate future, but this move is a pretty clear prelude to change. Any new Apple TV service is likely to be based around an iTunes subscription of some sort. iTunes does have an enormous library of media, opening that up for thirty or forty dollars a month could draw in quite a few users.

Apple TV 2.1 Review

Topic:

Apple TV 2.1 Review Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Shane already published a review of the updated Apple TV 2.0 back in February. Now our review partner Digital Trends also took a close look at the Apple TV 2.0 and published a review that also takes into account the latest 2.1 Apple TV software update.

Quote from the review: "Renting does not just come from Disney or some Indie studio, but all of the major ones - matching easily those other online services which limit theirs to computers only. Apple TV rentals don’t leave out being able to be viewed on computers or iPods either (with the exception of high-def; more on this later), so it makes sense that the entire user interface has undergone significant changes to match that of the underlying philosophy now being put into play.
