Apple TV Reviewed
SpicyGagdet published a review of the Apple TV and movie rental.
Quote from the review: "Movie rentals, movie rentals, movie rentals, did I mention movie rentals? We either drop by a brick and mortar store like Blockbuster or rent our movies by mail through Netflix. Driving out to a store or waiting for your movie in the mail isn’t so bad when you have no other alternatives, but what if I told you there was a better way? W

Roku Netflix Player versus Apple TV
AppleInsider compares the new Roku Netflix movie streaming device to the Apple TV.
Quote: "Like Apple TV, the partnership between Netflix and Roku has given way to a compact box for streaming select movies and TV programs directly to your television. The $100 box serves up unlimited content from Netflix's "Watch Instantly" section as part of the standard subscription price of its DVD by mail service.

Apple TV 2.1 Review
Shane already published a review of the updated Apple TV 2.0 back in February. Now our review partner Digital Trends also took a close look at the Apple TV 2.0 and published a review that also takes into account the latest 2.1 Apple TV software update.
Quote from the review: "Renting does not just come from Disney or some Indie studio, but all of the major ones - matching easily those other online services which limit theirs to computers only. Apple TV rentals don’t leave out being able to be viewed on computers or iPods either (with the exception of high-def; more on this later), so it makes sense that the entire user interface has undergone significant changes to match that of the underlying philosophy now being put into play.

Rumor: Apple TV to become DVR
A new rumor that the Apple TV could sport DVR features in the future appeared to be driven by newly surfaced patent applications from Apple.
Currently the Apple TV does not have a tuner to receive broadcast TV, but that could be easily added. On the other hand at some point it will be nice to actually be able to DVR videos streamed from the Internet.

Apple TV Movie Rentals Review
Today we are looking at movie rentals via Apple TV. Actually renting a movie over Apple TV is very easy and competitively priced with the local movie store.
The only real catch here is that the newest releases aren’t available to rent. There appears to be about a one week lag before the newest release are available. Read more

Apple TV Update and Guided Tour Video featuring Hannah
Apple released yesterday the delayed Apple TV software update that enables online movie renting. There is a guided video tour fo the new Appe TV available since a while on the Apple site that is worth watching for two reasons.
To show the new features Apple brought in Hannah, who apparentely works at one of the Apple retail store. As soon as it is known which one the sales at that store will sky rocket.
Besides pretty Hannah (reminds me on some actress the name I forgot) the video teaches you how to rent movies on the Apple TV and create photo slide shows.

Apple TV Software Update Delayed
Along with the announcement that the MacBook Air is now shipping Apple also announced that the software update to allow movie rentals on the Apple TV is not going to be ready for another two weeks.
The software update could very well be the killer application the Apple TV needs to fix the languishing sales of the device. However, Apple will need better movies if it’s to really work well. Read more

Apple TV to support Youtube and 160GB coming
If you have not yet gotten a Apple TV box, here is a big reason to get one. Apple announces support for watching Youtube videos via the Apple TV box on your HDTV.
Apple will release the Apple TV upgrade next month. I still did not hook up the Apple TV box we used for our Katherine's Gadget Model shoot in April. As I am not into downloading vidz, but watch the occasional Youtube video, this is a reason for me to use the Apple TV regularly.

Apple TV Hands-On with Videos
As reported the Apple TV has shipped this week.
Gizmodo published a good video showing the Apple TV box focusing on initial setup. The user interface is just neat as expected.
The Apple TV box does not support direct file manipulation. It just syncs from the PC/Mac. Maybe Apple adds that in the future via a firmware update.

Apple TV Delayed until Mid-March
I actually just yesterday ordered the Apple TV for one of our upcoming Gadget Model shoots, and today I received an email telling me about a delay from February to Mid-March.
You can read the email I got below. Basically Apple says the wrapping up took a bit longer than expected. This is an issue that Apple seldom has, because they just do not announce a product until its available. The Apple TV was different from the beginning. Steve Jobs pre-announced the back then called iTV already in September 2006.
