Microsoft Plug-In Makes Firefox Vulnerable
It's so hard to like Microsoft. Whenever I see pictures of the Courier or use Windows 7, I want to sing Redmond's praises from the highest mountain. Unfortunately, MS seems incapable as a company of doing something awesome without doing something else terrible. For example; it's just come out that Microsoft sneakily forced an update on Firefox users that makes them ridiculously vulnerable to being hacked.
According to Computerworld, Microsoft released several updates in Febuary that affected both Firefox and IE, and one of the plug-ins MS pushed to Firefox added in a terrible vulnerability. It adds a Windows Presentation Foundation plug-in to Firefox. This add-on makes it possible for attackers to gain access to a computer using Firefox if the user is lured to the wrong web site.

Firefox/Win 7 Gain Share, Vista/IE Lose It
It's generally accepted among tech geeks that Internet Explorer is an awful, clunky web browser to use. Most people who use the Internet for a living probably end up choosing Firefox, or Chrome, or Opera, or Safari, or what-have-you. The vast majority of users, however, are still totally comfortable with IE. That's why it holds a commanding percentage of the browser market.
After September though, it has less of a lead than it once did. According to studies by web metrics firm Net Applications (via ZDNet) Internet Explorer's overall market share dropped by 1.26% in the month of September. It is now down to 65.7%, which is still a substantial lead, but less of one than Microsoft has had in years.

Internet Explorer Loses Ground To Firefox, Safari & Chrome
The first browser wars saw Microsoft's Internet Explorer devour and digest the once-great Netscape browser. In the ten years since then, the various versions of IE have maintained a steady dominance across the market. It's only been over the last few years that serious challengers have started to arrive. Google's Chrome browser and Mozilla's Firefox have both risen up to compete with Internet Explorer.
In fact, they're doing more than just competing. They're winning. In March 2009 the combined market share of IE6, 7, and 8 was 65.8%, a commanding lead. But now, just three months later, Internet Explorer's overall share has dropped to 54.4%.

With more than 15,000 improvements, Firefox 3 is faster, safer, and smarter than before and definately worth trying out. Browsers are a very personal thing. I have Firefox and IE 7 installed, but somehow still stick with using IE 7 most of the time.
